This kinetic sound installation explores the delicate intersection of mechanical predictability and sonic chaos. At its center, a motorized axis drives two free-floating metal brushes across a textured landscape of contact microphones. Unbound by rigid programming, the brushes are left to the whims of physics—guided only by friction, centrifugal force, and gravity.
As they sweep, skip, and stutter across the surface, they translate raw kinetic friction into an unpredictable acoustic dialogue. The resulting noise is a live, ever-evolving composition that rejects digital perfection. By letting mechanical imperfections dictate the rhythm, the work surfaces a hidden, tactile voice from the machine, transforming random friction into a meditation on impermanence and automated chance.
