"Chirpy Chirpy Cheep" is a dual-screen audio-visual installation. The front screen displays some snapshots of birds we can see in daily life, without sound, yet it coincides with the sound from the back screen. The opposite screen uses noisy sounds created in everyday life to imitate the chirping of birds, but it is repetitive and rigid.
It employs the "causal listening" mode among the three listening modes to trace the sound back to its source. However, it explores the subtle relationship between image and sound using a fictional sound source. The sound and image create an intriguing illusion that repeats in a loop. During the process, as viewers observe the images themselves, they imagine the corresponding sounds, which may not necessarily match the actual sounds. This emphasizes the ambiguous relationship between sound and image.
